Guiding Hands Midwifery is a private practice clinic within Heartland Family First Medical Clinic.
Jenda Stauffer, APRN-CNM, IBCLC and Lydia Rhodes, APRN-CNM, FNP are one of the few practices in Omaha where patients are encouraged to see one midwife throughout their pregnancy. This intimate experience develops a stronger connection and provides a better partnership between you and your midwife. Your midwife will be present throughout your labor, providing hands on labor support. The birth of your baby will have been something we will have discussed and planned for. Having options for pushing and birthing positions promotes comfort and allows you to have control over your experience. Many families report that we bring an intimacy and an emotional connection to the childbirth experience.
Our midwifery services also include routine well-woman gynecological exams, complete OBGYN care, family planning services, pre-conceptual care, and STD screening. Primary care is provided from adolescence through menopause.
Jenda Stauffer is a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and is readily available for breastfeeding education, assessment and treatment of breastfeeding issues.
Lydia Rhodes is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and available to additionally care for the entire family. She can provide well exams for children as well as men. She is also able to managing acute and chronic health problems.
Our comprehensive health care services are provided in a relaxed, intimate office environment. Appointments with us provide ample time to ask questions and receive education about your current health care needs and goals.
The State of Nebraska requires CNMs to have a practice agreement with a OB/Gyn physician. Michael Barsoom M.D., FACOG who is a perinatologist or MFM (maternal fetal medicine specialist) does this for us. MFMs are physicians who handle high risk pregnancies or complex medical conditions during pregnancy. He helps us with many patients who have risk factors. Dr. Barsoom is available to us 24/7 for any urgent needs. We appreciate that he is available for consultation, collaboration and for our referrals!
